Volume 3 Issue 3 of Snowflake Magazine, our publishing-led initiative aiming to support and amplify queer creators. Our eleventh issue is a special double feature: two themes in one magazine!
The issue will be split into two parts, each exploring the topic of Sapphic and Achillean love.
Sapphic is a term for the attraction, love, and relationships between women and femme-aligned individuals, named after the famous ancient Greek poet Sappho of Lesbos, whose love poems still resonate today.
Achillean is the partner term for the attraction, love, and relationships between men and masc-aligned individuals, named for the love that many throughout history have interpreted between Achilles and Patroclus, imortalised in Homer's Iliad.
In this issue we explore the theme of gay and lesbian love, of the homosexual identity, and of the nuanced interplay of labels that non-binary people experience in relation to same-sex attraction.
We asked our talented submitters to write, illustrate, paint, film, sculpt and photograph their interpretations of this topic and our prompts on this theme. This is a collection showcasing some of our Editors' absolute favourite submissions.
